As the Nation prepares to go to the poll on Saturday for the Presidential and the National Assembly elections, the Nolywood Atiku support group has retaliated their endorsement for the People Democratic, PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Coordinator of the group, Tola Balogun, a top Nolywood film Director, noted that the Association is convinced beyond every measure that the presidency of Atiku will in no small measure lift the image of their profession to a higher level.
He argued that Nolywood had enough of its fair share of the challenges experienced in the country this last four years where shooting of movies became a major challenge for majority of their members, thereby rendering most of them redundant. He lamented that they cannot afford to go through such experience for another four years.
More so, Tola maintained that their resolve to follow and support Atiku is futher boasted by the fact the PDP Presidential flag bearer has promised to ensure that Nollywood two percent contibution to the Nation GDP is greatly improved.
“This is why we are endorsing and throwing our support for Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar, because it is our strong conviction that as a man who has succeeded in the corporate world, he must have what it takes to lead Nigeria out of the woods and re position the Nations economics potentials,” the multi award winning Tola Balogun noted.
Reacting to the election postponement, Tola boasted that the postponement will not in any way deter them from coming out in their large numbers on Saturday to perform their civic responsibility which he maintained is to vote massively for the candidate of their choice..
“I want to assure you that we are not deterred by the postponement at all. Come Saturday, we have all resolved that we would come out to do the needful. We have been in this assignment before now and we will not rest until we cast our vote on Saturday,”
The Atiku support group is made up of film actors, Directors and producers in the Nigeria Nolyhood industry with membership in all over the thirty six state of the Federation including Abuja.
The Association came into emergence when Alhaji Atiku declared his intention to contest for the presidency under the Umbrella of the People Democratic Party, and their mandate from the beginning was to use their influence to mobilize support and create awareness for Atiku..
