20TH NSF: MOC/LOC CARRIES OUT JOINT INSPECTION OF VENUES & FACILITIES

The Main Organizing Committee of the 20th National Sports Festival and the Local Organizing Committee are currently are set for the final Joint Inspection of Venues & Facilities earmarked for the 20th National Sports Festival “EDO 2020”. 

The Festival is scheduled to hold in Benin City, capital of Edo State from March 22 – April 1, 2020.

According to a statement by the Chairperson of the publicity and Communication sub-committee, Lere-Adams. A.B. ( Mrs ) she noted that Venues & Facilities to be inspected include: the newly renovated Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium (venue for the Opening & Closing Ceremonies), the University of Benin (Games Village which will accommodate about 11,500 athletes and officials), Indoor Sports Halls, etc.  Most of these Venues & Facilities have attained about 95% completion.

The statement read further, “The commitment and determination of Edo State, led by it’s indefatigable governor, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki and ably supported by his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shuaibu and the entire Edo people, is palpable.

“With the Count Down which was flagged off by the Governor, the nation has been assured that no stone will be left unturned to ensure an unprecedentedly successful NSF.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki, nicknamed ” Wake and See” has left no one in doubt about his focus on delivering the best NSF in the history of the Games, so far.  The state of the art facilities and dedication of the Deputy Governor of the State, Comrade Shuaibu, who doubles as the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), further attests to fact that Edo State is indeed ready to make history once again.

“As the owners of the Games, the FG, represented by the FMYSD whose Permanent Secretary, Mr Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, chairs the Main Organising Committee (MOC), on the other hand has been working tirelessly to ensure that the organization of the Games meets best international standards,” she stated.

Madam Lere-Adams stressed that the MOC has continued to receive necessary support and encouragement from the visionary Minister, Mr Sunday Dare.

The Joint Inspection will be rounded up with a Joint MOC/LOC Meeting where all the “t”s will be crossed and all the “i”s dotted.
