Despite leading the Startimes/NPFL league by four good points, coach of Rangers International, Fidelis Ilechukwu has stated that they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal as the league title is still much open.
Looking ahead to the remaining fixtures in the league, the vastly traveled coach noted that much as he has his eyes on qualifying for the Africa Continental championship his main focus is winning the league.
“I did not say that I am not thinking about qualifying for the Continental championship but my focus right now is about winning the league. As we are winning, our opponents are also winning their matches which means that it may go down to the wires just like we saw with Manchester City and Arsenal in the English Premiership.
Anybody that is telling you now that he is going to win the league now is joking. What we are going to do is to keep on working and believe in our team. As it stands now if we don’t get any point in our match against Sporting Lagos in Lagos, but I believe that we are going to get a good result in Lagos the margin is going to be one one point difference,” he stated.
Rangers International is currently seated top on the Nigeria league table with 60 points. They are closely followed by Enyimba with 54 points the same points with Remo Stars who are third on the table. The Enugu giant must therefore maintain their momentum if they are to go all the way to win the league title.
