Philip Otobha is a 43 years old man who has spent 12 years in the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) studying a supposed 5 years course. According to TVC News, Philip is a family man who has 2 daughters, and he has been struggling to graduate from FUTO since he got admitted to the university in 2009.
Many of his mates have graduated many years ago, but he’s still struggling to graduate after 12 good years. He has a wife and 2 daughters who he also struggles to pay their school fees including his own. He spent all he had in school, and he’s still unable to graduate. 3 things hindered Philip from graduating when his mates were graduating.
1. Corruption: According to Philips, he said his course lecturer was responsible for his misfortune. His course lecturer called him one day and told him that he noticed something about him. He told Philip that he noticed that he doesn’t sort lectures in his department. If he doesn’t do that, he would never graduate from the university.
If Philip pays his school fees every year and also has good results, then nothing should stop him from graduating. But his corrupt lectures kept failing him to make sure he doesn’t graduate just because he failed to sort them. This is corruption and wickedness of the highest order.
2. He couldn’t sort lecturers: He said he doesn’t have any money to sort any lecturers in the university, so they kept on failing him every year. They started failing him during his final year in the university just because he couldn’t sort any of them since he started studying in the university.
3. The kind of course adviser he had: If Philip had a good course adviser, he would have graduated with his mates. But because his course adviser is a greedy man, he made sure he doesn’t graduate from the university no matter what he did. It was his course adviser that told him that he can’t graduate from the university if doesn’t sort them. He also told him that no one graduates from the department without sorting him or other lecturers. This is the reason why Philip had to spend 12 years in FUTO instead of 5 years.
But the nice thing is that the government of Imo state has heard about the story, and they are seriously looking into the matter. What do you think? Please like, share, and follow me up.
