Movie producer and actor, Yomi Fabiyi recently released a movie, depicting the rape situation surrounding Baba Ijesha and comedian Princess, whereby Baba Ijesha was depicted as a victim of set up, orchestrated by Princess.
The movie which was titled “Oko Iyabo” had characters in it take on the names of the individuals involved in the case, including Iyabo Ojo whom the story was centred around.
Although Yomi came on his instagram page to state that the movie was only acted to correct child abuse, assault, human rights abuse and other vices and not what people think about it, it didn’t stop many celebrities from dragging him for even thinking of acting such movie, not minding what that case has been all about.
Among those that dragged him was Mercy Aigbe who blasted him for making mockery of people’s pains. On her Instagram, she called him a disgrace after she earlier stated that she’d told him that on phone. She stated that just a scene she saw in the movie was utterly distasteful and disgusting.
Similarly, the Theatre Art and Motion Picture Practitioners Association Of Nigeria (TAMPAN), has condemned the new movie ‘Oko Iyabo’ which was directed and produced by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi.
TAMPAN, in a statement, condemned the movie, stating that it has gone against their ethics and virtue.
According to the press statement, Fabiyi is to appear before its committee on the 11th of July, 2021.
“The TAMPAN committee on ethics, conflicts and resolution wishes to inform the general public that the association has summoned Mr. Yomi Fabiyi who is the producer and directed of the controversial film titled ‘Oko Iyabo’ to appear before it on Thursday 11th July 2021,” it read in part.
