As the Super Eagles hope to put on a good showing at this year’s AFCON, head coach, Gernot Rohr has stated that it is his wish that China based Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo maintain his scoring feet by emerging the qualifiers highest goal scorer.
Ighalo has six goals same as Fiston Abdul Razak of Burundi but Rohr told journalists that they will help Ighalo to score a few goals and end up as the top scorer during the qualifiers to silence his critics who wrote her off after the World Cup in Russia.
The attacker didn’t have the best performance at the World Cup and be missed an open net that could have taken the Eagles beyond Argentina to the second round of the World Cup but he fluffed them with the Argentine goalkeeper at his mercy.
“We will support Ighalo to emerge as the highest scorer at the AFCON qualifiers. He is on six goals the same as the Burundi player(Fiston Abdul Razak) but we will do our best to help him to silence his critics who wrote him off after the World Cup,” Rohr told journalists.
“He has a possibility to achieve that and his players will be there to support him.”
