Producer of one of Nigeria top Legislative programs on radio, Hallowmace, Sunny Anderson Osiebe has mocked Senate President, Ahmad Lawan for desiring to run for the president of the country while staffs of the National Assembly are gearing to embark on strike over outright neglect of their welfare and other entitlements.
In a post on his Whatsapp page on Saturday and monitored by www.theajasanews.con, Anderson also lampooned the House of Representative Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila and other key principal officers of the National Assembly for only seeking their own interest while their house is on fire.
The Hallowmace producer inferred in the post that the disposition of Ahmad Lawan and co towards the plight of the workers gives a clear picture of the kind of President and officers Nigerians should expect.
The post read, “Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) would be embarking on a Strike on Monday for lack of Payment of their Salaries, Entitlements and Arrears, yet, Senator Ahmed Lawan wants to be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .
” While, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is fighting to be Governor of Delta state.
” Then, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Speaker) and Rt. Hon. Ahmed Wase (Deputy Speaker) are campaigning for a return to the House of Representatives.

You may want to recall that the National Assembly workers under the aegis of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) on Thursday threatened to shut down all activities from Monday, 6th June 2022 over non-payment of the outstanding balance of the National Minimum Wage.
The aggrieved workers specifically frowned at the refusal of the National Assembly’s management to implement the Conditions of Service via a Memorandum of Understanding duly signed by both parties.
A PASAN Executive members disclosed to Nigerian Tribune that National Assembly’s management “insists that it shall not implement any allowances (including the Leave Grant already paid in the last two years) except they obtain approval or ratification from the National Salaries and Wages Commission.
“This position is absolutely in conflict with the functions of the National Assembly Commission, particularly Section 19 (1) of the Act establishing the Commission.
“The provisions of this Section expressly provide that the Commission shall among other things, make staff regulations relating generally to the conditions of service, including the power to fix salaries and allowances, of the staff of the National Assembly. Section 6(b) of the same Act also provides that ‘the Commission shall have the power to pay its staff such remuneration as are approved by the National Assembly.
“In line with these provisions, the National Assembly approved the harmonized Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS) and Peculiar Allowances in 2010. And in 2018 the two Houses of the National Assembly also approved the Revised Conditions of Service 2018.”
