Nigeria National Team Coach, Imoudu Francis, has commended the female team for picking the last ticket for the 2019 World Beach Volleyball Championship in Hamburg Germany later this year.

The pair of Tochukwu Nnoruga and Fransica Ikhiede humbled Rakatou Seydou and Roukaya Garba of Niger Republic  in two straight sets 2-0 (21-18, 21-16) at the ongoing African Nations Beach Volleyball Senior Men and Women Championships in Abuja on Thursday.

“The game was explosive because it was a qualification tournament. People seem to misunderstand the concept of this competition, it is not about winning the cup, every team want to make sure that they are in the world cup, that is why we supported Sierra Leone to clinch the other ticket so that West Africa will have at less a nation in the world championship.”

“Despite the defeat, we suffered against Egypt in the last game we are going to put up a good show when we play them in the semifinals.”

Also reacting to the result, the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod expressed satisfaction on team Nigeria performance so far in the tournament promising to support the team in their quest to make the nation proud.

“Qualifying to the world championship is what we have been looking forward to because it is one of the reasons we are hosting the games ” he concluded
