Despite the popularity the Private schools in Nigeria are enjoying in recent times, Nigeria Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has declared that their Unity schools are still very much ahead of them in several ways.

The Minister declared this when he received the delegation from the National Examination Council, NECO, the body charged with the responsibility of conducting this year’s National Common Entrance Examination in his office on Tuesday.

The NECO delegation which was led by the Ag Registrar; Alhaji Abubakar Gana presented the results of the nationwide exams to the minister.

Adamu Adamu praised the speed at which the NECO officials carried out the assignment stating that the standard of the exam is a testimony of the high quality level of the 104 Unity schools in Nigeria, “The good news is that our schools have an edge over most of the private schools in terms of qualified teachers and facilities among other variables. Even at that, we are not taking anything for granted,”

The Minister noted that being aware of the apprehension of the parents to receive the admission for their children; he promised to expedite action on the process of releasing admission letters, “we shall ensure that the admission process is given the maximum attention it deserves. We are mindful of the anxiety on the part of parents to get admission for their wards into our schools. We are equally conscious that some of our competitors (private schools) are ahead of us in terms of the conduct of their 2019/2020 admissions,”

More so, the Minister assured that this year’s admission will commence by the 14th of May, “In terms of the admission exercise, it will commence on the 14th of May 2019, with the first batch of admissions coming as from the first week of June. Supplementary admissions will take place between the 13th – 20th of July 2019. By the second week of September, the gates of all our 104 Unity Schools will be opened for resumption,”
