The Federal Government has suspended senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) amid corruption allegations involving socialite, Bobrisky.

Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, announced the suspension on Thursday evening.

The affected officers are Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, both Deputy Controllers of Corrections at Medium and Maximum-Security Custodial Centres in Kiri-Kiri, Lagos.

Their suspension follows a viral audio recording where Bobrisky claimed to have bribed EFCC officials and NCoS Controller General Haliru Nababa.

Additionally, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna and Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu were suspended for separate infractions.

Obinna allegedly escorted a convicted inmate outside the Afikpo Medium Security Custodial Centre, while Ikechukwu reportedly received money on behalf of an inmate at Kuje-Abuja Medium Security Custodial Centre.

The suspension is to enable further investigation into these allegations, with the outcome to be made public.
