The NFF President Cup Football Tournament for NNL clubs kicked off in grand style on November 12th, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the development of football in Kaduna State and Nigeria National League.

The highly anticipated tournament, which runs until November 20th, at the historic Ahmadu Bello Stadium, promising to provide intense preseason action for the participating teams and entertaining results for the fans.

The opening ceremony saw a remarkable start, with the Commissioner of Sports Development for Kaduna State, Professor Benjamin Kumai Gugong, officially Kicking off the ball at the competition’s opening ceremony, which remains a symbolic representation of the state’s commitment to advancing sports and supporting local football talent. After the ceremony, Professor Gugong stayed to watch the two Kaduna-based teams Kada Warriors FC and Kawo FA compete in a thrilling encounter. Kawo FA smiled victoriously with a 1-0 win over Kada Warriors FC in a closely contested match.

Meanwhile, Hon. Magaji Alhasan, Chairman of the competition In his speech, extended a warm welcome to all the teams and officials, praising the vibrant hospitality of Kaduna’s citizens. He assured all participants of fair officiating, which will be monitored directly under his supervision. Hon. Alhasan also shared his vision for the tournament’s future, expressing his hope that the NFF President Cup will become an annual fixture on the football calendar, offering clubs a vital platform for preseason preparation.

With four matches scheduled daily, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the tournament is expected to provide a thrilling display of football throughout its duration, further elevating the profile of football in Kaduna State.

The competition serves as an essential platform for clubs to sharpen their skills and prepare for the upcoming National League season.
