In a significant breakthrough, two prominent terrorist leaders, Abu Radde and Umar Black, surrendered to troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA on January 19, 2025.
The duo, operating in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State, were forced to surrender due to intense synchronized offensive operations by ground troops and air support, resulting in heavy casualties and displacement of terrorists from their strongholds.
During the operations, troops recovered various weapons, ammunition, and secured the release of 15 hostages held captive by the terrorists. The military is sustaining momentum, continuing the hunt for notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji and other fleeing terrorists.
The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorist threats, ensuring that terrorists either surrender or face defeat on the battlefield.
Ongoing operations aim to create conditions that deny terrorists the ability to carry out attacks on citizens. This development comes amid a series of surrendering terrorists in recent times, including the surrender of 119 terrorists since the commencement of Operation Lake Sanity II in April 2024.
