The fourth edition of “Tee and the Boys” event, organized by the Tee Adekunle Initiative for Boys, recently took place in a celebration of fatherhood and mentorship. Convener Triumph Adekunle emphasized the importance of role modeling, particularly for young boys, and how fathers can positively influence their children’s lives.

The event’s theme, “Styles and Modeling,” focused on how fathers can set good examples for their sons through their dressing and behavior. Adekunle noted that while the event has a Christian foundation, it aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people of all faiths.

“For this year, it was basically styles and modeling how a boy should dress. Like the popular saying that the way you dress is the way you will be addressed. So that is what actually made this year’s edition different,” the convener emphasized

Attendees, including Olileanyachi Daniel and Okocha Chiedu, praised the organizers for promoting father-son relationships and encouraging fathers to be more involved in their children’s lives. Daniel shared that the event taught him the value of fatherhood beyond just providing financially, emphasizing the importance of emotional presence and interaction.

“I have also learnt a lot here that it is not just about providing for the family and it’s not just been out there hustling to bring money into the house, it’s more about building a future generation, emotionally and physically. Been there, interacting with your children, interacting with the family and letting everybody see the presence of the father,” Daniel said.

“It’s a program that promotes fathers knowing their place in the home. It’s a program that brings the awareness to the father that they are not just sperm donors, they are actually priests, and once they are home which we can call their temple they are the priest,” Okocha Chiedu opined.

The organizers acknowledged that this year’s event clashed with Easter celebrations and plan to adjust the date for future editions to attract a larger and more diverse crowd. Despite its faith-based roots, the event strives to balance its content to cater to a broader audience.

Through this initiative, “Tee and the Boys” aims to inspire fathers to take on a more active and nurturing role in their children’s lives, fostering a stronger sense of community and responsibility
