A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulazees Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, paid a visit to The Progressive Institute (TPI), the party’s Think Tank and intellectual resource center. During his speech, Jandor emphasized the importance of leadership and the need for structured succession planning, particularly in the context of President Tinubu’s readiness to pass on the baton to the next generation.

Jandor praised TPI’s role as a citadel for leadership, highlighting the institute’s potential to nurture future leaders and provide solutions to Nigeria’s leadership challenges. He expressed his admiration for TPI’s vision and its clear departure from traditional party foundations, noting that the institute’s independence and self-sustaining model would enable it to provide objective and impactful views to the party.

“And that is now speaking volumes in TPI because for me, you can call TPI whatever you want to call it but I will say it is a citadel for leadership, and it is still speaking to this passing on the baton we are talking about. Because we have seen clearly that the major problem we have in Nigeria today and even in all strata of other economies is leadership problems. we want to see how we can have structures that will speak to leadership. Even if a leadership is born we still have to nurture and grow the new born to become whatever you want it to be to be able to fulfill its potential.

“So, I want to appreciate Dr Adebayo and his team. I want to thank you for the wonderful work you are doing. I took time to go through what this stand for and I can see a clear departure from what we used to have or what we had where I was coming from which is the PDI, the PDP institute. We are ready to be part of this,” he stated

In response, Dr. Lanre Adebayo, Director-General of TPI, shared the story behind the institute’s establishment, revealing that it was inaugurated in September last year as a Think Tank and intellectual resource center for the APC. He highlighted the National Chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje’s vision for an independent and sustainable organization that would provide valuable insights to the party.

“I will tell you a little story about the Institution. We were inaugurated sometime around September 6th last year. We are barely six of seven months old. But the thought process that led to the establishment of the Institute had so much to do in terms of content, in terms of vision for the Institute and for the party. And it is the Think Tank as well as the intellectual resource center of the APC,” he said.

The visit underscores the APC’s commitment to grooming future leaders and promoting structured leadership succession, with TPI playing a pivotal role in shaping the party’s intellectual and policy direction.
