Nigerian CDS Pays Tribute to Russian Heroes on Victory Day

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria, General Christopher Gwabin Musa attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Red Square in Moscow, Russia, on May 8, 2025, to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Victory Day. The event honored the Russian heroes who sacrificed their lives during World War II.

The ceremony, which took place at 0900 hours local time, was attended by over 40 delegates, including 32 heads of government. The CDS was accompanied by senior military officers, including Major General UA Yusuf and Brigadier General Obinna Azuikpe, who participated in the wreath-laying ceremony.

The event served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during World War II and the importance of international cooperation and diplomacy. The CDS’s presence underscored Nigeria’s commitment to building strong relationships with other nations and paying tribute to those who have made significant contributions to global peace and security.
