INEC sets for Electronic Voting Machines virtual demonstration….as over 40 companies signify interest

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) is set for a virtual or practical demonstration of Electronic Voting Machine, (EVM) with a view to enabling them evaluate the best available technology for the purpose of voting in Nigeria.

To this end, the Commission has invited over 40 companies who had indicated interest for the live presentation.

 
In a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq on Wednesday, he noted that so far, eight companies have made presentations through a combination of physical and virtual means, before an audience of Commission members, a team of Directors and ICT Staff.

“Each company had 30 minutes for its presentation while the question and answer session was also allocated 30 minutes.   

“The Commission will continue to update Nigerians on the ongoing process in line with its efforts to deepen the use of technology in election,” The statement concluded.
