Abuja Kids Soccer League, (AKSL: Sports Minister praises former International, Ajilore

The Minister’s of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare has praised former Nigerian International, Femi Ajilore for organizing the maiden Abuja Kids Soccer League, (AKSL).

Toyin Ibitoye who represented the Minister at the closing ceremony of the Kid’s league in Abuja expressed delight with Femi Ajilore initiative with the kids stressing that it is an endevour anybody who is genuinely interested in the development of football in Nigeria must support.

He stressed that it is an initiative that he believes would grow very big in the future to the extent that other countries would come to emulate, to develope their football from the grassroot level.

“This is a fantastic initiative and I think it will gladden the heart of anybody who is genuinely interested in the development of football in Nigeria.

“It is a private initiative and it deserves to be supported as we are seeing kids from their very early age learning the rudiments of the game, learning how to cope with the flow of the Game, develop the temperament to manage the football games, understand the rules.

“I belief that this is the foundation that can lead us to into the future where we can have talents that can help us become the force we can be in the global scene, not just in Africa.

“I am very impressed with the quality of football we have seen displayed from the U-7, U-10 and the U-13. It is very good and I have no doubt that if the organizers can keep the momentum going it is going to be a gold mine, something I believe clubs within and outside Nigeria will borrow a leaf from and even be a part of, to be able to get the talents of the right age and the right quality,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chief organizer of the Abuja Kids soccer league, former Nigerian International, Femi Ajilore expressed joy with the successful organization of the League, noting that what they began like a joke is becoming a reality.

” We started like a joke and it is becoming a reality. Of course the Abuja Kids soccer league that we have put on ground for the kids is a way of helping our grassroot develop.

“What we are seeing today is the final of the game. I can tell you that the kids have played home and away matches, they have been moved from their comfort zones to play games and compete and compete very well,”

“Let me put it on record that the program was not my effort alone. I had able assistants in the persons of Pascal Inyang Clement who was the Secretary, Head coach and Manager, and also our technical Adviser, Barrister Lawan Audi Mohammed. These guys were wonderful,”

“We also had great support from Fanmilk.  They gave us lots of fanyogo, that was more than enough to give to all the kids that day. And if you noticed we gave all the parents too Fan icecream. And on the tables of our dignitaries were Fan dango like orange juice. I want to say a big thank you to them for their support,”

Meanwhile, Eagles Wing FA from Gwarimpa emerge winners of the U-13 category, while Juventus FA from Wuse 2 Turf Arena were winners of the U-10 categorie. Youngstars FA from Lokogoma were the winners of the U-7 categories.

Prices were also given to the most Deciplined Team and F.A FC from Mabushi were crowned with the Award, while the Fair Play award went to FC International of Lugbe.
