…..Tips Super Eagles to do well in Egypt
Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and Israeli based Dele Aiyeanugba has hailed the decision of current Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzuho to move to Cyprus saying that in view of the situation he was in Spain it was the best decision he had to take.
Speaking with the www.theajasanews.com, Aiyeanugba noted that it is not enough playing in a big league and not having a regular playing time, stressing that the joy of a player is to be seeing regular playing time in his club.
Aiyeanugba who was a prominent member of the Super Eagles under the tutelage of Samson Siasia also stated that as the current number 1 goal tender for the Super Eagles he had risked losing his place in the team if he had remained contended with just sitting on the bench.
“As the number 1 goalkeeper he has to be up and doing because if he does not play regularly he may lose his position to the keepers who are having regular playing time in their clubs. I want to say it is a very good decision he made and i salute him,” he said.
More so, Aiyeanugba maintained that the Cyprus league is not that bad as most people may fear saying that the league is fast growing.
Speaking on the Super Eagles chances to make it at the Nations cup in Egypt, the former Nigeria Super Eagles goalkeeper expressed confidence in the ability of the team winning the tournament, but called for caution in some areas.
“We have very good chance because we have great players, but we have to work more on dead balls situtions like freekicks, and connerkicks. I think we have weakness there and we have to work more on that area if we are to win the cup,” he said.
