The Interim President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), Azania Omo-Agege, has responded to allegations raised by concerned boxing stakeholders in Nigeria regarding plans by a former board member, Adura Olalehin and the NBF Secretary General, Olalekan Faseesin to lead a team to the World Boxing tournament . The stakeholder had called on the National Sports Commission (NSC) led by Mallam Shehu Dikko to investigate the matter urgently.

In a statement, Omo-Agege said, “We take these allegations very seriously and will not hesitate to investigate any misconduct. We will work with the NSC to ensure that Nigerian boxing is protected from individuals who may seek to undermine its integrity.”

The allegations against Olalehin include secretly registering a team for the World Boxing tournament without the knowledge or permission of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) board and president. The stakeholder also accused Olalehin of planning to lead the team as coach and NBF president, despite his involvement in a doping scandal at the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

It was further alleged from sources within the NBF that the General Secretary and Olaleyin have been engaged in visa rackteering and attempted fraud in the name of the Federation. They alleged that both men used the influence of the NBF to secure UK visas for some unidentified boxers to represent the country at the World Boxing World Cup in Liverpool from 4th-14th September 2025.

Omo-Agege assured that the NBF would take decisive action to prevent any further embarrassment to Nigerian boxing. “We will not allow individuals to compromise the integrity of our sport. We will work tirelessly to ensure that Nigerian boxing is represented with dignity and honor.”

The NSC has been urged to investigate the matter and prevent Olalehin and the NBF Secretary General from bankrolling the expenses of the alleged fake team. The stakeholders also called for the indictment and prosecution of Olalehin and the secretary general for earlier infractions.
