The people of Amasiri Communities have strongly denied allegations that they are planning attacks against Nigerian soldiers and their neighbouring Okporojo community, describing the claims as false, malicious and deliberately provocative.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Hon. Amadi Maduka, former Deputy President General of the Amasiri Town Union, the community dismissed a publication by a group identified as Edda Media Practitioners, which allegedly accused Amasiri natives of criminal conspiracy and planned violence.

The statement categorically refuted the allegations, insisting that Amasiri people have neither contemplated nor initiated any attack against the Nigerian Army or any security agency.

According to the community, the claims were designed to mislead the public, inflame tensions and portray Amasiri in a negative light despite its reputation as a peaceful and orderly society.

“The Amasiri communities have neither contemplated, planned, nor initiated any attack against the Nigerian Army or any other security agency,” the statement read. “Peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and adherence to lawful conduct remain enduring and foundational values of our people.”

The community also rejected suggestions that it could sponsor violence against neighbouring communities, stressing that it remains committed to peace and lawful engagement regardless of provocation.

Amasiri leaders argued that it was illogical to accuse a population currently facing displacement and humanitarian hardship of orchestrating violence. They noted that many residents have reportedly fled their homes following what they described as a military invasion, while vulnerable members of the community—including elderly citizens, pregnant women and children—remain in difficult conditions.

The statement further claimed that security personnel deployed to the area are aware that no Amasiri indigene has engaged in any act of resistance or aggression against them.

The community called on security agencies to conduct a thorough forensic investigation into an alleged voice note linked to the accusations, urging authorities to determine the source and authenticity of the recording, including whether it may have been generated using artificial intelligence.

Amasiri also condemned what it described as the circulation of unverified audio recordings and fabricated narratives aimed at inciting panic and further tarnishing the image of the community.

While urging the public to rely only on verified information from credible security authorities, the community appealed for restraint and vigilance to prevent any attempt by “malicious individuals” to exploit the situation to provoke further conflict.

Reaffirming its commitment to peace, dialogue and justice, the Amasiri community called on all stakeholders to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and prioritize unity and peaceful coexistence.

“We stand firmly by the truth: Amasiri knows nothing about any plan to attack soldiers and will never be part of it,” the statement concluded.
