President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday has named another stranger in the sports industry, Sunday Dare as Nigeria Minister of Youth and Sports.

Because of the current state of sports in Nigeria most sports stakeholders have clamored for a sports biased person to be named as the sports Minister and not somebody who will learn on the job.

The new Youth and Sports Minister was the immediate past Executive Commissioner (Stakeholder Management) of the National Communication Commission, NCC. He was also a former journalist who spent over twenty five years in the industry.

Sunday Akin Dare graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University in 1991. 2 He then proceeded to obtain a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.

The 53 year old Minister was a Freedom Forum Fellow and Visiting Scholar, School of Journalism – New York University (NYU) in 1998. He later proceeded to Harvard University under the prestigious Harvard Nieman Journalism Fellowship between 2000 and 2001 where he studied Media and Public Policy.

He replaces Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung. g
