The President of Akpoyibo Green Foundation/Asteven International Group, Dr Sunny Akpoyibo has stated that the emergence of Asteven Football Academy will go a long way in revolutionizing Youth football in Nigeria.
Dr Akpoyibo who declared this while delivering his speech during the final of Akpoyibo Green Foundation Youth Talent Hunt and football tournament which took place at training pitch of the Abuja National stadium on Sunday said, to them football is an avenue to change lives and provide the youths with successful lives.
“Our job is not done. It is just starting. Football has always been a crowd puller; an avenue to change the lives of our youths and provide them with successful lives. But over time, we have noticed that most, after retirement, do not maintain their lifestyles because they didn’t invest well and do not have life sustaining skills. Our brief is to change all that.“Today, we are giving an opportunity to all those who have participated in this tournament. We are providing an opportunity to change your lives, make wealth, live happy and support our environment, because our environment has given us all we need and we need to take care of it,”
Dr Akpoyibo noted that the academy will not only concentrate on football training alone but would focus also on other areas that would benefit the players in the future.“Uniquely, the football academy will undertake the development of skills sets for academy members; meaning there shall be a holistic teaching experience for those admitted into the academy comprising; Football Training, Skills Acquisition and Vocational Training, and Entrepreneurship empowerment. “Please watch out as we revolutionize youth football and green growth in Nigeria and indeed, Africa,” he concluded.
