Residents of Cajaah Housing Estate in Orozo, Abuja, have congratulated the re-elected Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, on his victory in the recently concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections.

The residents described the outcome as a clear endorsement of Maikalangu’s leadership and a testament to the confidence reposed in him by voters across AMAC. They noted that the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate underscores the widespread acceptance of his performance during his first term in office.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Maikalangu polled 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast to clinch the chairmanship seat. The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) secured 12,109 votes to finish second, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate garnered 3,398 votes.

Chairman of the Orozo Mass Housing Estate, Engineer Kenneth Egbedion, expressed delight at the outcome, describing it as a victory for the entire community.

“We congratulate Hon. Christopher Maikalangu on his success at the polls on Saturday. We believe this renewed mandate will translate into more development for the Orozo Mass Housing Estate, particularly the construction of the Angwa Bako Road. We say a big congratulations to him,” Egbedion said.

Similarly, a landlord in the estate, Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, commended the chairman’s people-oriented leadership and dedication to grassroots development.

“We join other well-meaning residents in congratulating the re-elected Chairman on this well-deserved victory. His first tenure was marked by commitment to responsive governance and community development,” Komolafe stated.

He also assured the chairman of the residents’ continued cooperation and support.

“The people of Cajaah Estate, Orozo, pledge our unwavering support. We pray that God grants him wisdom, strength and guidance as he begins this new term to serve the people of AMAC,” he added.

The residents expressed optimism that Maikalangu’s second term would consolidate on existing achievements and deliver greater dividends of democracy to communities across the council.

Observers note that the AMAC chairmanship result is being closely watched as an indicator of party strength in the FCT ahead of future political contests.
