The Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) has stated unequivocally that there is no plan whatsoever on their part to devalue the Naira as it is been speculated in some quarters.
In a statement made available to www.theajasanews.com it stated that the so called plans to devalue the Naira is a mere rumor that should not be taking serious by Nigerians, stressing that it is the handiwork of unscrupulous elements in the forex exchange market borne out of the impression that the CBN is on the verge of devaluing the Naira, and triggering panic in the FX Market.
The CBN then stated as follow;
In light of current circumstances and macroeconomic fundamentals, the CBN has not devalued the Naira. Consequently, the CBN will invoke the full weight of applicable sanctions on any persons and authorized dealers found to be involved in such disruptive and speculative market behavior,” the statement concluded.
