As Nigeria joins the global celebration of Christmas, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has emphasized the importance of safe driving during the festive season. In his Christmas message, Mohammed called on motorists to strictly adhere to road traffic rules and regulations, ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

Mohammed reiterated his commitment to creating a safer road environment during the Yuletide, urging Nigerians to be mindful of the increased human and vehicular movement during this period. He appealed to drivers to avoid reckless behavior that could lead to road mishaps, undermining the festive celebration.

The Corps Marshal also tasked FRSC personnel to ensure the free flow of traffic and strive for zero deaths during the Yuletide celebrations. To achieve this, the entire workforce and logistics have been mobilized to identified black spots, where they will remain throughout the festive period.

Mohammed’s plea for safe driving is particularly relevant, given the alarming rate of reckless driving in Nigeria. The Corps Marshal has consistently expressed his displeasure over the issue, emphasizing the need for drivers to exercise caution on the roads.

As the FRSC works to ensure safer roads, motorists are urged to cooperate by driving defensively, obeying traffic laws, and avoiding hazardous behaviors. By doing so, Nigerians can help make the 2024 Christmas celebration a joyful and accident-free one.
