Nigeria Customs Service’s Seme Area Command has a new leader, Comptroller Benedict Oramalugo, PhD, who took over as the Customs Area Controller on February 11, 2025. This change in leadership follows the retirement of his predecessor.
Comptroller Oramalugo brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to effective border management and trade facilitation. During the handing-over ceremony at the ECOWAS complex of the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, Deputy Comptroller Enforcement, DC Istifanus D. Musa, welcomed Comptroller Oramalugo and assured him of the commitment and support of all officers within the Command.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Oramalugo promised to consolidate on the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, ensuring the seamless execution of the Service’s mandate. He also pledged to maintain an open-door policy and urged officers to enhance their capacities to move the Command and the Service forward
Before his appointment, Comptroller Oramalugo served as the Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Command, where he achieved significant success in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations. He received several awards in December 2024, including Strategic Community Engagement for the Year and Service Excellence Performance
