The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt II Command, has surpassed its 2025 revenue target, recording an impressive N731.2 billion in collections and boosting the nation’s economic drive.

According to a statement issued on Monday, the Command had a revenue target of N700.01 billion for 2025, following its strong performance in 2024. However, it exceeded the target by collecting N731.2 billion, representing 104.46 per cent of the projected revenue.

The Command attributed the feat to the leadership and commitment of the Area Controller, Comptroller Aliyu M. Alkali, who effectively implemented the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs and deployed the indigenous Unified Customs Management System, known as the B’ODOGWU platform, to enhance faster and more efficient cargo clearance.

Comptroller Alkali was said to have ensured strict compliance with standard operating procedures, maintained high discipline among officers, and sustained continuous engagement with critical stakeholders to achieve the milestone.

While acknowledging the role of quality leadership, the Area Controller expressed gratitude to the management of the Nigeria Customs Service, led by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, for creating an enabling environment that made the achievement possible. He also commended stakeholders for their cooperation and synergy, which contributed significantly to the Command’s success.

Beyond revenue generation, Comptroller Alkali praised officers of the Command for their dedication, diligence, and professionalism, noting that their uncompromising stance and patriotism led to the interception of 75 containers with a cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N47.6 billion.

Of the intercepted containers, 30 were found to contain expired, illicit, and unregistered pharmaceutical products, while others contravened various provisions of the Customs and Excise laws. He stressed that the seizures would serve as a strong deterrent to individuals intending to violate extant regulations.

The Area Controller further urged importers and Customs licensed agents to make honest and accurate declarations, assuring that the Port Harcourt II Command remains committed to facilitating legitimate trade while enforcing customs laws with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

The statement was signed by Theophilus P. Duniya, Chief Superintendent of Customs and Command Public Relations Officer.
