The Minister of Youth and Sports development, Solomon Dalung has stated that he should not be held responsible for the non release of funds to the Nigeria Football Federation explaining that the leadership of the football house should be held responsible for it.

Speaking with theajasanews.com, Dalung noted that if the leadership had done the right thing after returning from the World cup in Russia the issue of the non release would have been sorted out and they would have started receiving their funds.

“The releases are tied to retirement, you know in government, even the ministry of Youth and Sports development if government releases money to them and they cannot retire or account, the president will not give you more money again.

“It’s not that the non releases are deliberate, it’s just tied to the fact that they should retire what has been given so that you can be given more. And that we have also discussed and I think they have some challenges in terms of understanding what retirements was, now they have engaged the permanent secretary to guide them so that they can retire. I think we have approved some releases of some funds to them,”
