….Accuses Wike of plotting to run against Tinubu in 2027

By Martin Odiete

Zenith Labour party Chairman, Dan Iwanyanwu has berated the continuous detention and incarceration of the leader of the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu noting that the act can more be described as a personal vendetta.

Iwanyanwu stated this Saturday while addressing some section of the media at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Iwanyanwu said: “We have to interrogate why Nnamdi Kanu is still in prison, you are aware of the activities of terrorists in this country. You are aware of persons who have been interacting with terrorists without the leave of government. You are aware of those who are involved in the same agitation Nnamdi Kanu is involved in and they are walking free why he is still in custody. The leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Immanuel Iwanyanwu has asked that he be handed over to him. Nwazulike before he passed on also asked for his release. A lot of people have equally asked for his release but then President Buhari due to ancient hatred for Igbo decided to keep him.

“Recently, the five South Eastern governors came together for the first time to ask for his release but I don’t know what he has done that they kept holding him for agitating like others.

“They have to hijack him in Kenya and brought him here. The truth still remains that since they have held him there he has denounced all the insecurities that were imported into the South East and every little thing they will say IPOB. When the prison was attacked we came first to say no, because all the names involved in it were non Igbo. So what happened? They have to start recruiting urchins , people without education to start doing operations for them. Nnamdi Kanu has said severally that he has no hand in it. On Mondays there are no activities in the East and we are calling on Mr President to release him. But if you don’t want to release him, bring him to Eagle’s Square let’s use him for barbecue and let his enemies come and feast on him so that we can close his chapter.

The Zenith Labour party Chairman also spoke on the current imbroglio in Rivers State, and also alleging that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has perfected plans to run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

He said, “One morning twenty seven law makers left there party and still wants to keep doing business as if nothing happened but Section 109(1g) of the Constitution makes it very clear and does not need a court that if you are voted into a legislative seat on the platform of a political party and for any reason you leave the party you lose your seat. When they discovered that they goofed. When they discovered that the man who asked them to leave did not think through it very well because he had a disagreement with the governor. We don’t want to delve into the disagreement between Wike and Fubara that is their business. But we are talking about things that threaten this democracy. When a law provides for how certain things should be done you must do it that way. They have been running from pillar to post, infact they tried to run back to the PDP through the back door but when they discovered they have lost the seats and infact they have lost the seats finally. They got the PDP legal adviser to file a case they have not left, and other party says they have not joined. But that is not what the law says. You need not join another political party, once you have left the party, one to join another political party or not to return to the house. What the law says is that you have lost your seat. This other attempt to come through the back door will not work. We want to see that judge even after they have sworn to an affidavit and they were recorded on video who will say they have not left. Leaving a political party the vehicle you use to win an election is a personal decision and has nothing to do with the political party where you are going to.

The other time it was a protest sponsored by Abuja to create mayhem and justify the declaration of a state of emergency and as God caught one of them the explosive he is carrying cut one of his hands among the Abuja people that protested against the government. Have you heard anything from it since then? So, we don’t want to go with the impression that the federal government and the president is giving tacit approval to what Wike is doing as minister.

I have said it severally the president has no business dealing with Wike, he rewarded him for the manipulations he did in Rivers we have let it go but he should not put fire in Rivers that will affect his office as president. If the problem is about 2027, the person you should do business with is Fubara. He is the man on seat, you know Mr President. You are the most experienced politician to become president. So you should understand better than I do. If you don’t know Mr President, Wike will contest against you in 2027. All that he is doing is razzmatazz. Forget all that he is doing, yes he has done well as minister but he will leave that office by the end of 2025 or early 2026 to prepare for presidency.

Why did I say so? I have on record twenty six speeches made by Wike which showed commitments and he has failed in all. So, your own Tinubu is a normal thing, that will be another regret and he will turn against you. I know what I’m saying, I know him very well and he knows me very well. Wike will run against him in 2027.

We should not destroy this democracy. He may have brought Fubara that is your business but that was what was done in the dark but why would you want to clean the stomach of a cow in the Public. There is always peace in Rivers until the Abuja group moves in during weekends. The FCT minister should face his work here. We should not ignite a crisis that will consume all of us including Abuja,” he concluded.
