Fans of Heartland FC of Owerri have called on the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to breathe a new life into the club by dissolving the interim management board of the Neze Millionaires.

Heartland FC has been embroiled in internal crisis since the take over of the management by the Barrister Charles Ezekwem-led board with the resultant unimpressive performance of the club in the 18 weeks old NPFL 2019/2020 season.

The fans who spoke to journalist in Owerri at the weekend, declared since Mr. Godson Onyemobi assumed the position of the General Manager, Heartland FC ilegaly the team has been struggling to find their rhythm in the premier league, despite huge sum of money the board received from the government ahead of the season.

“Chief Ezekwem and his board have outlived their usefulness to the club. By the way, the tenure of the management board has expired. They have enjoyed the grace of time without achieving results,” some of the angry supporters said.

They also decried what they claimed as the desperation of the leadership of the board to remain in office despite the expiration of their mandate.

“We, the supporters of Heartland FC are not happy with what is going on with our darling club. The club is not a private property such that a few people who got the mandate of the people through the government to manage it are destroying our club. Why are they very desperate to remain in office? They should go lest they kill Heartland FC.

They pleaded with Governor Uzodinma to act fast and save Heartland FC by bringing back the general manager of the club, Mr Chukwudi Fortune Ifeanyi who was ilegally suspended, even as they demand to know why the board has refused to bring him back as directed by the state government since last October. They also querried the rationale behind the acting General manager collecting the salary of the ilagally suspended general manager.
