The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has reaffirmed its commitment to securing the release of pupils abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Agwara, Niger State, assuring parents and Nigerians that the operation remains a top national priority.
In a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael E. Onoja, the military acknowledged the anxiety of families and the public following the abduction, noting that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the children’s safe return.
“The DHQ assures that the abducted children are a top national security concern. Concerted efforts are therefore being made to ensure their safety and quick reunion with families,” the statement read.
The military appealed to Nigerians, especially community members and the media, to refrain from spreading unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing rescue operations. It also urged parents and local leaders to promptly report credible intelligence to security agencies to support the mission.
Major General Onoja stressed that recovering the pupils remains “a top priority” for the armed forces, giving assurances that the operation will continue until every child is safely reunited with their family.
The Defence Headquarters also expressed empathy toward the parents, pledging unwavering dedication to bringing the children home.
