Duke Udi tips these four countries as favorites for 2019 AFCON trophy

As the countdown to the 2019 Africa cup of Nations begins with countries knowing their opponents and venues for the group stage matches, former Super Eagles player, Duke Udi has tipped these four countries as his favorites to win the trophy.

In a no hold back chat with www.theajasanews.com[1], Udi  while counting on the Super Eagles as one of the favorites also tips Cameroon, Senegal and Egypt as his other favorites for the Africa biannual football fiesta.

The former Sunshine Stars of Akure coach gave reasons why he feels the Super Eagles of Nigeria stand a chance of winning the Nations cup for the fourth time.

 “Nigeria has a good team, we have a very young team that we can always count on, and with what I have seen so far from the matches they have played we have very good crop of players that I think can deliver the Nations cup for us. So, we are looking forward to a very good outing in the Nations cup,” he said.

Meanwhile, Udi lambasts the disparity existing in the National team where foreign based players are given preferential treatment ahead of players playing in the Nigeria league.

“While we were playing we call it the Super Eagles. We don’t call it local players and foreign based players. I don’t know where they got that from. Look at the current Egyptian team they have about five or six players playing for Al Ahly. Will you call somebody playing for Al Ahly a local player? Once you are good you are qualify to play for the National team. Remember the late Thompson Oliha, he was a home based player but when he came to the Super Eagles the then coach will put foreign based player on the bench to play him.

For me if you are good you are good, nothing like home based and nothing like foreign based. It all depends on whether you are good enough. Once you are qualify to play for the National team you are a National Team player. That stigma affects their psychology just because they are calling them a local player from Enyimba or the other Nigeria club. And coming to the National team they look at the foreign based as if they are gods.   in.com/��S[6P�
