The current Chairman of Eboyi state Football Association and current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Obinna Ogba may not participate at the forthcoming FA election if the guidelines of the election are to be followed to the latter.
www.theajasanews.com gathered that article 8 of the Eboyi state guideline into the Board of the Football Association, states ‘That candidate must not be in the employment of any government or its agencies or aid to any government official prior to the election,’
In view of this, the Distinguished serving Senator totally falls foul of the rule and being a man of the rule of law may not want to be seen going contrary to a laid down rule.
Though, information reaching www.theajasanews.com has it that the Distinguished Senator appeared for screening last weekend held at the state capital, and should he decide to continue with the contest it will definitely open the room for petition from the opposition.
All eyes are now therefore on the Electoral committee to see how they would react to this knotting issue, more so as several of them are obviously afraid of the influence of the powerful Senator.
You may want to recall that some of the stakeholders in Eboyi state have been clamoring for a change in the leadership of the board of the state football association, appealing to the distinguished Senator who has held on to the Chairman of the football association since the creation of the state to make way for another person to take charge.
The election has been fixed for the 1st of June, 2019.
