Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has arrived in Accra, Ghana, to represent President Muhammadu Buhari at an Extraordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
The meeting, which will be attended by leaders across the region, follows previous meetings and efforts by the leaders to resolve the situations in Mali and Guinea.
Osinbajo was received at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, by Nigeria High Commissioner in Ghana, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas and Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, Ghanaian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The vice president was also saluted by the Guard of Honour at the airport before proceeding to the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra venue of the summit.
The meeting is a follow up to the visit of ECOWAS mediator, former President Goodluck Jonathan to Mali on Jan. 5.
