… As Owan West Ward 2 Leaders Set up Disciplinary Committee to try Airing members…………………. The Peoples Democratic Party in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State weekend says the suspension of Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, a former member of the Edo state House of Assembly, and three others from the party is a Nullity as such actions can not stand.
Speaking in an enlarged Executive meeting of the ward in Uhonmora-Ora, the Headquarters of ward 2 in Owan West local government, Elder Eric Imoukhude Edegbae said the party has rules and procedures in suspending a member from the party, and therefore, the purported and illegal suspension of the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Speaker, Hon. Blessing Agbebakun and three others are null and void.
“Flowing from the purported and unlawful suspension of Hon. blessing Agbebaku and three others from the party, PDP ward 2, Owan West local government Area, on the 3rd of November 2021, masterminded by one Coker Alex Uduze and one Oyakhire Atiati, we the entire card-carrying members of PDP ward 2, Uhonmora-Ora drawn from the 13 units of the ward hereby pass a vote of absolute confidence on our son, our leader Hon. Blessing Agbebaku in whom we are well pleased.
in a communique signed by 29 of both Executives, Leaders of the party said the purported suspension is unconstitutional, null, and void as it a breach to chapter 10, section 57(6) which says “Any decision taken against a member who has not been informed of the charges against him or her has not to be given any opportunity of defending himself shall be null and void.”
“That at no time was a disciplinary committee set up at the ward level to try the purported suspended members as stated in chapter 10, section 57(1).
“That our great party PDP which is set to rescue is guided and run by the constitution.”
The Executives, therefore, resolved that the purported suspension of Hon. Blessing Agbenbaku and three others are null and void and of no effect. The party in the ward then set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the action of one Monday Coker and Oyakhire Atiati in their involvement in the purported suspension.
Elder Edegbae also condemned the action of Monday Coker and Atiati for forging the signature of some of the Executives, especially the woman leader, and threatened with court action.
He said it was amusing that they went as far as using the letter-headed paper of the party ward congress in carrying out their illegality.
It would be recalled that some of the party members in ward 2, Owan West local government Area of Edo state purportedly suspended the Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Edo state House of Assembly and former member of the state House of Assembly, Hon, Blessing Agbebaku and three others.
