The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, calling for sustained safety consciousness among Nigerians, particularly during the festive period. In a statement issued on Friday, the Corps Marshal extended his felicitations following the official declaration of Eid-el-Fitr by Saad Abubakar III, President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

He commended Muslim faithful for their devotion, discipline, and spiritual commitment throughout the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to uphold the virtues of love, patience, selflessness, and peaceful coexistence beyond the fasting period.

Mohammed stressed that the values of restraint, sacrifice, and care for others are essential to promoting safety on Nigerian roads. He noted that many road traffic crashes are preventable when road users exercise patience and show consideration for others.

The FRSC boss therefore appealed to motorists, pedestrians, and other road users to imbibe these lessons by obeying traffic regulations, avoiding reckless driving, and prioritising the safety of lives and property, especially during the Eid celebrations.

He reassured the public of the Corps’ commitment to safer roads through sustained patrol operations, strategic deployment of personnel, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders across the country.

The Corps Marshal also urged Nigerians to support the FRSC’s efforts by promptly reporting road crashes and emergencies through the toll-free emergency line 122 and the National Traffic Radio platforms to facilitate timely response and lifesaving interventions.

While wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Mohammed called on all Nigerians to use the occasion to promote unity, national harmony, and a shared responsibility toward building a safer road environment.
