Ekweremadu receives D’ Tigers Assistant coach hails NBBF

The Honorable commissioner for Youth and Sports Enugu state, Hon Bar Lloyd Ike-Ekwerenmadu on Tuesday 4/3/2025 received the assistant coach of the nations senior basketball team D’ Tigers, Chief Chiedozie Nwoye, who just returned from the Afrobasket qualifiers in Libya where the team won all three games to pick a ticket for the finals coming up In Angola later this year, in his office in Enugu.

An elated Ekwerenmadu Jr, expressed happiness over the inclusion of the Enugu state basketball Chief coach in the team that went for the qualifiers.

According to him, it only show that there is something good happening in basketball in the state which most be sustained.

“Seeing you I am very happy that you arrived in good health and looking good, you have shown good character and represented us well, you are a true ambassador of the state” he said.

Moving on he stated that “your inclusion in the Afrobasket qualifiers team show that you are doing something that people have recognized and we will support your efforts and that of others in lifting basketball to the height it’s meant for in the state, I am proud of you.

The Honorable commissioner hailed and thanked the Nigeria Basketball Federation for their choice in Coach Chiedozie Nwoye as one of the coaches of the team during the qualifiers insisting that it was long overdue.

“With what Coach Chiedozie Nwoye has been doing with the state basketball, it’s safe to say that his invitation to the national team was long overdue and I truly want to appreciate the Nigeria Basketball Federation for giving him the opportunity to show case his capacity, thank you NBBF President Engr Musa Ahmadu Kida and the South East rep on the board Ugo Udezue” he said.

Bar, Ekwerenmadu revealed that the state is open to partnering with the NBBF to improve the game of basketball in Enugu South East and Nigeria in general.

“We are ready to work with the Nigeria Basketball Federation as we contribute our quota to the development of the game starting with what we do in Enugu, South East and Nigeria as a whole” he said.

While thanking the Commissioner for the reception accorded him, Hon Bar Lloyd Ike-Ekwerenmadu Chiedozie Nwoye Promised to give his best to the game and ensure that the state takes its pride of place in the country, also thanking the President of the NBBF Engr Musa Ahmed Kida for the opportunity and believe in him.

D’ Tigers jersey which was signed by all the players that went for the qualifiers in Kigali was presented to the Hon Commissioner.
