A woman by name Loveth Alo Helen has been charged to court for allegedly providing false testimony at a church service, where she claimed that God had miraculously provided her with a ₦200 million house, sparking investigation into the authenticity of her claim.
Helen, 32, shared her testimony at Zion Prayer Movement, where she announced that she had acquired a property. A video of her testimony went viral, followed by another clip in which she allegedly said she bought the house for ₦200 million. The church even displayed footage of the property during the service.
However, on Tuesday, she was arraigned before the Enugu North Magistrate Court on four charges, including obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony by trying to sell the property.
She was accused of falsely claiming ownership of a five-bedroom duplex located at Plot 16, WTC Estate, Enugu. The real owner of the house is said to be Architect Emmanuel Asogwa.
After hearing the charges, Helen pleaded not guilty. The magistrate granted her bail at ₦1 million, with a surety required to provide proof of three years’ tax clearance. The case, recorded as MEN/112C/25, was postponed to April 9, 2025, for further proceedings.
Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Helen maintained that she never planned the testimony with anyone and did not receive any financial benefit. “I did the testimony claiming that I will get it. Nobody arranged anything with me, I did not collect anything from anybody,” she stated.
She also explained that before her testimony, she had visited the house and was in the process of acquiring it. “We are processing to get it, and I told them that I’m coming,” she added.
