FCT college of Nursing holds 2nd convocation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), College of Nursing Sciences, held its 2nd combined Convocation Ceremony, comprising graduates from 1991- 2023 as well as 1st Matriculation set of 2022-2023 on Saturday, in Gwagwalada-Abuja.

Speaking at the Convocation Ceremony, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, directed the management of the College to ensure that henceforth, matriculation sessions hold annually.
The Minister remarked that annual matriculation would ensure that the undergraduates are integrated into the learning life.
Bello further explained that to achieve this, the FCT Administration had specifically made adequate provisions in its annual budget to ensure that the College of Nursing Sciences program is funded yearly.
The Minister who thanked the Chief Medical Director of Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital for the offer of automatic employment to the best-graduating students of the College, said the Administration looks forward to who will win for the very first time in this type of opportunity.
“I want to thank the Chief Medical Director of Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital for the offer of employment to the best-graduating students look forward to who will win for the very first time in this type of opportunity”, he said.
The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola congratulated all the graduates who successfully completed their programmes.
The Minister who added that their dedication, hardwork and perseverance have brought them to this point, stressed that they should be proud of their achievements.
“Today, we celebrate your accomplishments and the knowledge and skills you have gained during your time at this esteemed institution.
“I am proud to note that graduates of this School have continued to distinguish themselves in their affairs as reports reaching us indicate that they are well sought within and outside our shores.
“I also wish to congratulate all students who will be matriculating today, your first step to become nurses have just begun and I encourage you to make the best of the opportunity for being students of this School to distinguish yourselves.
The Minister also disclosed that the Bill for the Establishment of the College is at its final stage of passage by the National Assembly and that great achievements had been added by both academic and non -academic activities.
“It might interest you to know that qualified tutors have been employed, massive renovations of facilities are ongoing and the information infrastructure had been upgraded with Computer-Based Testing for internal and entrance examinations constantly taking place”.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Secretary of FCT Health Secretariat, Hon.Abubakar Tafida remarked that the graduates of the College are strategic because they represent the entire country.
