The Federal Government has approved the reconstruction of the Dei-Dei International Market road to Life Camp, a move that is expected to boost economic activities in the area.
The announcement was made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, during the commissioning of a 5-kilometer temporary access road connecting Saburi 1 and 2 communities to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) and the old Keffi, Dei-Dei International market road in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
According to the Minister, the reconstruction project will commence in February and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. He assured residents that the project will restore the Dei-Dei International Market to its former glory as a thriving international market.
The commissioning of the temporary access road is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in the FCT. The road project includes the installation of streetlights, which will enhance safety and security in the area.
The Minister also announced that every Area Council will have one road project included in the FCT’s 2025 Statutory budget. This move is aimed at promoting even development across the FCT.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairmen Senate and House of Representatives Committees on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters commended the FCT Minister for his exemplary leadership and pledged the support of the National Assembly for the FCT Administration.
The reconstruction of the Dei-Dei Market-Life Camp Road is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, improving access to markets and enhancing trade activities.
