In order to have an on the spot assessment of the estates under construction, the new management of the Federal Housing Authority on Thursday embarked on a tour the of estates and project sites in the Federal Capital territory in Lugbe.
Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, Managing Director, FHA, who led the team on the visit said the tour is meant to better equip the management with first hand information of what is on ground.
According to the Managing Director, “this tour is to give us a first hand information about the activities of the Authority.
He went on to justify the tour, because most of the issues on site, would form the bulk of the problems that may come to their desks for attention.
”It is necessary we see these places, because some of the issues that may arise here will be part of the problems we may be required to attend to. ‘it is therefore good that we have come here to see things for ourselves, so that when they come to us, we will be in a good position to address them, having seen things physically,” Ashafa said.
The tour earlier started with a visit to the the Mass Housing site in Zuba, where the Authority had developed about 750 units of housing.
Ashafa praised the staff of the Authority for quality work done on the buildings. ”I must applaud the efforts of all the staff, for a very good job done in this site.”
‘I am really impressed with the caliber of professionals in FHA. What I am seeing here attests to that.”
The Managing Director told the staff that part of the mandate of their management was to fulfill the goal of President Muhammadu Buhari which is to provide affordable housing for Nigerians.
”The President has sent us here, not only to provide affordable housing for Nigerians, but to give them livable accommodation, so, the era of doing shoddy jobs are over’ he concluded.
While promising the staff good times ahead, he implored them to be more dedicated to their duties.
The tour also took the FHA Management team to Kado and Gwarimpa estates where three beneficiaries of the housing scheme in collaboration with FHA Mortgage Bank and Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria were handed the keys to their new homes.
