The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded another national milestone as its Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, was honoured with the BusinessDay Excellence in Public Service Award at the 2025 Public Service Lecture Series and Excellence Awards for Ministries, Departments and Parastatals.
The award, presented at a high-level ceremony in Abuja, recognises Mohammed’s strategic reforms, visionary leadership and sustained commitment to enhancing road safety and national security. Deputy Corps Marshal (Training), Abiodun Akinlade, received the award on behalf of the Corps Marshal, underscoring the FRSC’s long-standing culture of teamwork and professionalism.
The event, chaired by former President Goodluck Jonathan—represented by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim—brought together senior policymakers, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Information and National Orientation. Several heads of government agencies were also honoured for exemplary service.
Centred on the theme “Shaping Nigeria’s Economic Future: Navigating Challenges, Unlocking Opportunities,” the ceremony highlighted the role of strong public institutions in national development. Mohammed’s recognition was widely viewed as an affirmation of the FRSC’s expanding contributions to national security architecture, digital intelligence, and modern traffic management.
Under his leadership, the Corps has upgraded the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS), strengthened emergency response systems, enhanced traffic monitoring processes, and driven innovations in road safety enforcement. These reforms, analysts say, have improved operational efficiency and boosted inter-agency collaboration across the security sector.
In a congratulatory message, the FRSC management and staff described the honour as well-deserved, pledging continued commitment to lifesaving reforms, national security enhancement and improved socio-economic wellbeing for Nigerians.
The statement was signed by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
