The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) FCT Command has arrested 254 traffic offenders, including a military impersonator, and secured 245 convictions during a week-long Mobile Court crackdown on the Abuja–Nyanya corridor.

The operation, tagged Operation Restore Sanity IV, was conducted between 8th and 12th September 2025 at the Nyanya Unit Command and on 10th September at the Karu Unit Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigerian Army Brigade of Guards.

In total, 254 offenders were arraigned for 563 traffic violations ranging from seatbelt infractions (129 cases) and driver’s licence violations (122 cases), to overloading (111 cases) and route violations (63 cases). Others faced charges for dangerous driving, traffic light offences, number plate violations, wrongful overtaking, phone use while driving, and impersonation.

Seven habitual violators—Shaab Murtala, Abel Sunday, Sunday Salasi, Benjamin Augustine, Ekem Charles, Hussaini Kabir, and Samsudeen Abdullahi—were convicted of multiple offences. Their sentences ranged from three hours to five days of community service. Notably, Kabir, who was caught impersonating a soldier while committing traffic offences, was ordered to serve five days of community service at Mambilla Barracks.

The court sittings were presided over by His Worship Maryam Muazu Alhaji and His Worship Huzaifa Maccido, with CRC Cindy Talabi, FCT Sector Legal Officer, acting as prosecuting counsel.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed praised the FCT Command for sustaining interventions to deter violators and restore road discipline. He said the Mobile Court sittings were part of a nationwide strategy to curb traffic indiscipline and save lives, adding that similar exercises would soon be replicated across all states.

He warned motorists against reckless driving, overloading, and other traffic violations, stressing that the Corps will not relent in prosecuting offenders to restore sanity on Nigerian roads.
