The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has restored free flow of traffic on the Lokoja–Abuja Highway following a two-day traffic logjam that disrupted movement along the busy corridor.
The clearance followed the prompt deployment of additional FRSC personnel by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who also took personal charge of traffic operations on the highway. The Corps Marshal was physically present on the corridor to monitor the situation, ensure effective traffic management and enforce strict compliance with traffic regulations.
According to the FRSC, the swift intervention led to the complete decongestion of the affected sections, with traffic now flowing smoothly in both directions. Enforcement teams were strategically positioned to regulate movement, prevent indiscriminate parking and ensure adherence to lane discipline.
The Corps Marshal has urged motorists plying the Lokoja–Abuja route to exercise patience, drive with caution and strictly maintain lane discipline to avoid a recurrence of congestion. He emphasized that orderly conduct by road users remains critical to sustaining free flow of traffic and ensuring safety on the nation’s highways.
The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to continuous monitoring of major corridors nationwide, especially during periods of heavy traffic, to guarantee safe, smooth and hitch-free travel for all road users.
