…..Demands probe of AFN financial activities
Former Nigeria international and current board member of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, Rosa Collins has declared unequivocally that he does not and will never recognize Ibrahim Gusau as the president of the Nigeria Athletics Federation.
Declaring this to www.theajasanews.com, Collins maintained that following the circumstances of Gusau emergence as the AFN president where crisis took over the whole electoral process, she has never seen herself of having been defeated at the Federation election by Gusau and so will never accord him the respect of a Federation president.
“We did not hold election. I don’t know if you were at the venue, there was no election, all we had there was just violence, it became like a place like Syria where people were fighting, fighting and fighting. There was no election. So I will not say at this point that I was defeated. If you defeat me fine, there is no problem. But if I was not defeated and someone say somebody beat me I will not accept that even in my dream.
I still stand my ground that everybody can be a president over my head but not Gusau. Yes I have attended two meeting or so as a board member but for once I will not address him as a president and I told him to his face that he is not AFN president.
Rosa Colllins also went further to call for the probe of the AFN president saying that he must be called upon to give account of the monies that has passed through his hands.
“For me I still stand my ground that he should be investigated. All this money thing, he should be investigated. Apart from even IAAF money what about the local events that he has been running? He is claiming that he is using his own money to run AFN, what money does he have, and what about the money that Dalung has been signing with him? The sports ministry has been handing over money to him. What did he do with that one, is that one meant for ice cream, abi? Somebody sent me a recording where he is claiming he is using his money, he is using his money. What money did he use? What about the money the youth and sports gave to him? What about the Nigeria budgeting,” she alleges.
