The Director-General of Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO), Hon. Dr. Engr. Magaji Da’u Aliyu, PhD, mni, is earning the hearts of members of staff of SHESTCO, with his compassionate and people-focused leadership since assumption of office in less than a month.
Since taking the helm, Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu has prioritized staff welfare, implementing initiatives that enhance their well-being and productivity. His commitment to creating a conducive work environment has made SHESTCO a model of excellence in Nigeria’s science and technology sector.
A two-term member of the National Assembly, Hon.Magaji Da’u Aliyu brings a wealth of experience in governance and people-centric policies. At SHESTCO, he is applying this expertise to drive innovation, staff empowerment, and community engagement.
For instance, this is the first time in the history of SHESTCO, that such a Compassionate Director-General will consider the low income of support staffers- Security Guards, Gardeners and Cleaners by increasing their salary to the standard of a National Minimum wage, with provision of other incentives to their great delight.
Recently, it has been jubilation galore by members of staff of SHESTCO as Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu demonstrates high level of milk of human kindness. The CEO distributed several bags of rice and clothing to staff, and invested in branded uniforms for security guards, cleaners, and gardeners, showcasing commitment to staff welfare and organizational pride.

There is therefore, no gainsaying the fact that Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu’s focus on staff welfare and institutional development positions SHESTCO for greater heights in driving Nigeria’s science and technology advancement.
By prioritizing people, Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu embodies compassionate leadership, making SHESTCO a beacon of excellence.
This leads to the question of productivity, many leaders think can be easily attained without staff welfare.
A compassionate leader that he is, Hon. Engr. Magaji Da’u Aliyu is defining and reconstructing the real meaning of Productivity as in essence, about achieving maximum output in the workplace with minimum wasted efforts and resources, as effectiveness with which employees accomplish corporate tasks and goals of the organisation.
It can therefore be deduced that productivity can be likened to what fuel is for business growth as it often leads to better results or outcomes, innovation, and profound employee satisfaction.
There is indeed, no doubt that Productivity soars when staff welfare is prioritized, as employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered, leading to increased job satisfaction, reduced turnover, and improved performance.

IN RETROSPECT.
In retrospective analysis, it is in the character of Hon. Engr. Dr. Magaji Da’u Aliyu, to reputed as a Compassionate, People-centered Leader, with Milk of Human Kindness.
The following achievements of Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu, as a two-term member of the National Assembly, inundated with visibly implemented numerous welfare programmes, highly benefited by his constituents in Jigawa State, notable among which are the following initiatives including, to mention a few
-Empowerment Programs: He empowered 500 women and provided scholarships to 1,500 students in his constituency. Additionally, he distributed tricycles and other empowerment items to people living with disabilities and other beneficiaries.
-Education Support: He sponsored over 2,313 students under his scholarship program and facilitated access to degree programs through the National Teachers Institute (NTI). He also supported the establishment of the College of Education, Gumel Campus.
-Infrastructure Development: He executed over 18 road projects, constructed numerous classroom blocks, built maternity hospitals, and attracted the Federal Government College of Special Education project to his constituency.
-Job Creation: He secured jobs for over 500 youths in his constituency.
-Support for Vulnerable Groups: He provided monthly allowances to 2,500 people and donated cars, motorcycles, and other items to party leaders and stakeholders.
These initiatives demonstrate his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. This compassionate and people-centered leadership style is being replicated by Hon. Magaji Da’u Aliyu at the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO) towards the realization of its corporate goals.
In a nutshell, this is the type of leader the people need to become their Senator, Governor, Minister and other political positions.
