How Erumena Found Love And Married At 64 Years Old After Being Mocked By People

A few days ago, veteran Nollywood actor, Fred Amata, had sparked reactions on social media when he took to his Instagram page to disclose that his sister was getting married in her 60s.
He said that his sister whose name he gave as Mena grew up in a strict environment of high morality, and that she was mocked by people who told her that she was too old and tall, and that even if she saw a man to marry, it would be someone younger or shorter than her.
Speaking further, he said that the ridicule continued from her 30s to her 50s, until it became a torment, but she continued to persevere.
He said that when she got to her sixties, they all gave up hope, but in October this year, she finally got married.
In a recent interview with BBC News Pidgin, Mena revealed how she found love, and the mockery she faced from people.
She said that her name is Erumena Amata, and that she is 64 years old. She said that Erumena means “this is my beauty”, and that it is just recently that she got married for the first time in her life.
She stated that whenever any of her friends got married, she was always very excited for them, and would dance and celebrate with them, hoping that her own turn would come soon. But that moment never came until October 2021.
She said that the most painful thing about the experience is that the girl she carried when they gave birth to her grew up and got married, and she was there at her wedding. The same girl later put to birth, and she was still there to carry her child.
She said that some of her friends are older than her, and that they did not call them bridesmaids or flower girls, so they chose to call them “Maids of honour”, while the younger ones were referred to as chief bridesmaids. She said that the funny thing is that not only are all her friends in their sixties, but all of them are also grandmothers.
Speaking about her husband, she said that he had been married before, but he lost his wife ten years ago. She said their marriage was blessed with one daughter, who is now a medical doctor.
She said that they met through a mutual friend who felt that they were perfect for one another, and from there, they started communicating. After sometime, the man popped the big question, but her response to him came when she visited his house. She said that she was so impressed with the way he designed his house, and was convinced that that was her home.
Erumena said that her husband is tall and is also older than her, and that she is grateful to God for what He has done in her life.
