A lady by the name Oliver had narrated how his father, Livinus Onyekaba, who is a laborer in Lagos, was tortured and died in the hands of the police men in Lagos. According to her, she said that her father was contracted by a man named Mr. Yusuf Remilekun to demolish a particular house.
The properties found inside the house were sold by the man. She said the properties were sold to his father at the sum of N1 million and both signed a document which made it authentic. She said her dad went to the building the next day and evacuated all the properties he bought and started demolishing the house which the man instructed him to do.
The family of the man who sold the properties to her father came with some police men and arrested her father and his coworkers. The policemen told her father that he was under arrest for trespassing on the properties. Immediately, the policemen took her dad to the police station, and there he spent 5 days in the police cell. Later the next day, the policemen took him to the command headquarters in Ikeja.
The inspector general of police told her father that they have to see the man who sold the properties to him, or they should bring the sum of N100,000 for them to mobilize some policemen to track him where ever he is. The money was immediately transferred to a policeman named Opeyemi. The next day, the IPO told her dad that he could only be granted bail if he could send the sum of N500k and that if they fail to pay the money on time, he will increase the bail fee.
The lawyer who represented her father negotiated with the IPO, and the money was reduced to N300k. After the money was transferred to the IPO’s account, her father was released to the family, but his eyes were closed. When the man was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that he was already dead.
A test was carried out on him, and it was discovered that he was hit severally on his head and his brain cells collapsed. The man’s family called the IPO to tell him what happened, but the IPO was reluctant to answer their calls.
