Despite emerging as a board member of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association, former Nigeria International, Femi Ajilore has stated that he is not in anyway throwing away his coaching ambition.
Speaking with our correspondent at the venue of the election on Saturday, Ajilore noted that he is not dropping any one for the other.
Ajilore said, “I will still say I am a coach, I am also an administrator. I always remember the words of one of my coaches in the past. He alway says every player is a potential coach. In a way I still coach and I also love the administrative part as well.
I am still willing to take more education in other to keep growing my coaching career. And I am still going to increase my knowledge in the administrative aspect as as well,”
On what would be his area of focus in the FCT FA board, Ajilore said,
“I am an advocate of grassroots football and it is now an opportunity to bring it on board. I am believing God that they will take it, because I believe it is very important to catch them young, expecially at their tender age which is what we have been doing. And if we do this and it goes round, in the nearest future we will have better players without age discrinpancy,” Ajilore concluded.
You may want to recall that Femi Ajilore who was one of the members of the silver winning team coach by Samson Siasia at the Beijing Olympics has been doing a lot of grassroots football programs in the Federal Capital Territory since his retirement from active football
One of such programs is the very popular Abuja Youth Soccer league.
