Super Eagles star, Kelechi Iheancho was the hero of Saturday’s Charity Champions cup match played at the Moshold Abiola stadium.

Iheancho was definitely a thorn in the defence of the opposing team that was led by former Super Eagles captain, Jay Jay Okocha. His effort saw him score a hacktrick and creating the penalty that got their team the 4th goal. The match ended 4-1 in their favour.

Ironically, the Jay Jay Okocha team paraded several current and former Super Eagles players in addition to other former international football stars in their midst. The team had the likes of Ahmed Musa, Samuel Chukwueze, Kenneth Omerou, former South African, Mark Fish to mention but a few.

Despite all their efforts which saw them mostly dictating the pace of the game, their matter was not helped by the glaring misses of Samuel Chukwueze who had several begging chances to score but squandered them all.

Kelechi Iheancho team was greatly helped in the midfield by Super Eagles midfielder, Wifred Ndidi and former Arsenal of England star, Emmanuel Ebuo. They also paraded the likes of former Chelsea of England star, Claude Makelele, comedians, AY, Sabinus, and others.

The occasion was indeed a beehive of activities as notable music stars like Tiwa Savage, Wande Cool, brother Shaggi and several other top celebrities graced the occasion.

You may want to recall that the organizers had stated in a world press conference held on Friday at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja that the program is primarily designed to provide medical support to special people in the society.

“The event is not just to bring people to have fun, the event is to create awareness that we need support to be able to get across to people with special needs. Our aim at the beginning for this project is to take care of 10,000 people and with the responses we are getting, it seems our number is going to go up”

They also noted that the rationale behind the initiative is also to provide medical health support and to touch lives within the immediate Nigerian community, with this year’s outreach focusing on “Eye Care.”
